Christi Taylor Pure Spice Workout Cinnamon Edition - Thoughts

Pure Spice Workout Cinnamon Edition by Christi Taylor is a 55 minute dance workout.
The DVD cover states that it is "a cue-less dance workout - no verbal distractions, just hot music and hand cues".
I will get back to that statement shortly.

There is a detail DVD menu that is broken down as follows:
- Introduction
- Workout
- MoveMasters  (38 minute break down of the dance moves)
- Spice Girls  (introduces the cast)
- Charlie (advertising a book written by Christi's mom)
- Love 4 Amanda  (a charity foundation)
- Be A Video Star (consulting service)

I like this workout.  I love the music.  I didn't like the cue-less cuing. Christi mentioned in her introduction that "the workout uses only visual cues and no verbal cues".  She goes on to say that "today's dance classes nation wide are being taught this way". I have taken a couple of these dance classes and while there is visual cuing, there is also verbal cuing as well.  Verbal cuing is what gets the crowd going.   I have done several of Christi other workouts and she is one of the best at cuing out there. So I  thought not being able to hear her took away from the natural energy and fun she brings to the workout with her personality.  Plus I found her visual cues distracting.  Also, with visual cuing you are forced to look at the television throughout the workout and this workout has quite a bit of spins and turns.

The music is mostly Latin inspired with some world and American beats thrown in.
The workout is broken up into 11 songs, which are:
Song #1 Warm up - Dame Un Beso (Latin Hip Hop)
Song #2 Are You Ready (American Rock & Hip Hop)
Song #3 El Galan Vandidosa (Latin Salsa)
Song #4 Tib of Presions (Indian Bollywood)
Song #5 Rumbero Soy (Latin Salsa)
Song #6 Dance (American Disco)
Song #7 Laila (Arabic Belly Dance)
Song #8 Me Gustan Todas (Latin Salsa)
Song #9 El Celosa (Caribbean)
Song #10 Shoulda (American Pop)
Song #11 Baila Mulata (Columbian Cumbia)

There are about 20 cast members. Some cast members modify some of the dance steps.  Each of the songs  feature a dance sequence that contains around 4 dance elements or sets of moves and you repeat the sequence throughout that song.  All the moves are choreograph to the music. For instance, you will do the same set of moves for the chorus of a particular song.

This is a great dance workout that contains both high and low impact dance moves.  I burned just over 500 calories with this workout.

4 & 1/4 stars
