The DVD is extremely well chaptered. Select Tune allows you to choose a particular workout segment, of which there are twenty. This series has one of the best sets I have ever seen. This workout is a remake of Anna Benson's Fitness Favorites FitPrime Strong Bear with Tracie Long.

CherFitness A New Attittude Step Class - Thoughts

Image
CherFitness A New Attitude: Step Class .  This is one of the very first video workouts that I ever own.  The video is some 24 years old and it features three workouts;  a 38 minute Step Class, a 10 minute Ab workout and a 32 minute Lower Body Workout. I only did the Step Class this time around. The Step Class features a rockin soundtrack. I have done a lot of video workouts over the last 24 years and I say that this still has one of the best soundtracks in a workout video. I am sure it helps that Cher is in the music business. So this work is a CherFitness workouts where Cher shares her workout routine.  Cher doesn't lead the class. The class is lead by Fitness Instructor Keli Roberts.  Keli has since been featured in many many workouts. Basic step class. If you don't like a lot of complex choreography this is the workout for you. If you do like complex moves, I would stay away from this workout. There are two warm ups. The first warm up is off the ste...

Urban Rebounding Poly Performance Metabolic Plyometric Circuits - Review

Image
Poly Performance Metabolic Plyometric Circuits is a super long title. It is also a workout that features Keli Roberts as the lead, and it is about 50 minutes long. This workout is an interval workout, that contains plyometrics, strength, and balance type exercises. There is a lot of work on and off the rebounder. I really like the work onto the rebounder but the work of the rebounder, (the exercises that had you jumping off and onto the floor) I did not care for. This workout does contain some intense and challenging plyo work much of which is done on one leg. The basic pattern of the workout has you doing two sets of the exercises on both sides (left and right) of the body. So you are really getting four total sets of each circuit. The warm up and cool down are about four minutes each and there is an abdominal specific section as well. I didn't like Poly Performance as much as I like Maximum Metabolic Intervals. This one didn't flow as well to me. You can see the camera man...

Cardio Karate Cardio Plyo Intervals - Thoughts

Image
Disc 9 Cardio Plyo Intervals is approximately 54 minutes in length and features Keli Roberts as the lead. In addition to Keli, there are two other cast members. I love the construction of this workout. There are about 7 pods and Keli teaches all the pods back to back. She gives you a chance to catch your breath - telling you " that is one time through and if you are keeping it short you can stop here or you continue on to do the full program ". She then goes back to the beginning and runs through all the pods a second time before moving to work the core. During the pod sections, there is not a lot of getting down to the floor in this workout which is a nice departure from some of the other Cardio Karate workouts. Keli did not do a lot of cuing or better put there were times she got really quiet. It didn't bother me. Just something I noticed. Definitely one of my favorites. 4 1/4 stars

Cardio Karate Flexible Strength Conditioning - Thoughts

Image
Disc 4 Flexible Strength Conditioning is just over 50 minutes and features Keli Roberts as the lead. Along with Keli, there are two cast members. This workout is primarily a strength workout. Keli and cast use the sand weights but she tells you that you can use dumbbells. Keli calls the various sections Sequences instead of Pods and there are 8 Sequences plus a Core section. This workout has a nice series of moves that require balance and control. If you look at the worksheet, you will see quite a few of the sequences are done on the right and then left side. There are couple of sequences where the count or numbers of reps are not the same for both sides. Keli gets confuse a bit of where she is at in the workout. Also, it seems as if she and the other cast members are struggling with some of the moves. Although, it could have been just a bad balance day for them. The only sequence I didn't care for was Sequence 1 and that was because of all the plank push up workout. It see...

WHFN FitPrime Upper Body Burn - Thoughts

Image
Upper Body Burn is volume 5 in the WHFN FitPrime series. It features Keli Roberts as the instructor and it is 55 minutes in length. The workouts in this series are known for working the non-dominant side first. For most people that is their left side, but the workout does not assume this so you are constantly hearing non-dominant and dominant throughout the workout and after awhile the two words start to run together. I mention this because I got mixed up trying to follow the phraseology and I found myself wondering throughout the workout whether or not I switched sides. The WHFN are fusion workouts that combine pilates, cardio, yoga and weights. This workout is primarily weights (used to work the upper body) and the weight work is decent. It starts by working the non-dominant side with lat rows, push ups and single arm shoulder work. The workout then takes you through a series of bicep, triceps, push ups, double arms rows. About 30 minutes into the workout, it comes back and works...

Kathy Smith Cardio Knockout - Thoughts

Image
The DVD, Cardio Knockout , actually contains three workouts. One workout features Michael Olajide and is called Aerobox Workout. The second workout, the one I did, is named Kickboxing workout and it features Keith Cook and Keli Roberts. The third workout is Tai Chi and it is led by Keli Roberts and Keith Cooke. Of course the main star of the workout is Kathy Smith. It is her workout. The Kickboxing Workout is approximately 50 minutes in length. It features what I thought a rather long warm up and then drill style kickboxing. Even though Kathy called them combos, I really didn't think of them as combos. There are two sets at the end of the Kickboxing segment that I would call combo. One is led by Keli Roberts and the other by Keith Cooke. They are really brief though. After the kickboxing portion, there is a leg conditioning segment where you work the Buns and Thighs. A stretch and cool down follows and then ab and back work. I thought the sequence of this was odd. I guess Kat...
