Kimberly Spreen Progressive Strength - Thoughts

Image
Progressive Strength with Kimberly Spreen is a 32 minute workout that focuses on endurance strength training. The workout packs in a lot in a short time.  It is constantly moving from one exercise to the next and therefore has a bit of a cardio effect. A push ups sequence, planks, modify burpees, squats, rows, rear delt flys, bicep curl, shoulder front raise, lateral raise, french press, alternating lunges, core rotations, and v-sits are all exercises that are packed into this workout. Kimberly is a great lead.  I think she cues very well. A platform step with a set of risers and a set of dumbbells are used in this workout. I like this workout. The only problem that I had is that Kimberly moved very quickly from one exercise to the next and she never changed the weight she was using. So some exercises I found the weight too light and on some exercises, I found the weight too heavy. There was not really a chance to change out the weight. When I tried, I would lose rep...

CIA 2605 Cardio-Camp Workout - Review

Image
CIA's Cardio Camp is an interval workout. I wouldn't exactly call it hi-low. The intervals are a combination of aerobics and kickboxing sets. There are three aerobics sections and three kickboxing sections. The aerobics sections are very basic and I do mean very. I was almost bored. The kick-boxing sections was a little more complex but equally repetitive. Kimberly Spreen leads the workout and she has this move called "Jab, Cross, Slit, Step, Step, Roundhouse, Step, Shin block, Shin block". I mentioned it because this same move also appears in Absolute Kickboxing and we did it a lot there and we do it a lot in Cardio-Camp. It took me awhile to get my heart rate up. You really have to create you own intensity which is actually easy to do because the workout is so simple. Kimberly alternates cardio aerobics, with cardio kickboxing. There are three combinations of each. Then at the end she combines all the cardio combos, throws in a couple of intensity blast, a...

CIA 2705 Absolute Kick-Boxing - Review

Image
CIA's Absolute Kick-Boxing is a combat interval kick-boxing workout and it is led by Kimberly Spreen. There are three distinct sections of this workout. One is kickboxing, one is the combat interval using a body bar, and the last section is abdominal toning using weights. The whole workout is 93 minutes. I never do the whole workout. I only ever do the kickboxing portion and that portion including warm up and cool down clocks in at 46 minutes. In general, I like Kimberly's Kickboxing workouts. While they don't have the high energy of an Amy Bento or the high intensity of a Cathe, they are still very good workouts. Kimberly does a lot of layering; and there are plenty of reps to do within each combination. The combinations are very basic and easy to pick up. This is the type of workout that doesn't require a lot of thinking. There is a lot of repetition so you are able to work the move instead of trying to remember what comes next. And to that end, Kimberly cues...

CIA 2904 Cardio Combat Surge - Review

Image
Okay. The story behind this workout is..... I pre -order this workout based on the fact that I like Kimberly. I then saw a clip of the workout and was not enthused about it at all. I was contemplating cancelling my pre -order, but because the video was already paid for. I decided to let the pre -order stand. The workout came and I put it in my to do pile. A couple of times I schedule the workout, but then would put something else in its place. So when doing my August rotation, I just decided I was going to do this workout August 31st period. I thought it would be a great transition from my August rotation into my September rotation. Well this whole week of workouts have been off. So I have been grabbing whatever I felt like doing. Last night I was really undecided as to what to do. Did I want to do The FIRM's Jiggle Free? Did I want to do The FIRM's Fat Blasting Cardio ? What about Zumba ? Oh I will do a Kickboxing workout. And that was when Cardio Combat Surge po...
