Holly Perkins Baladea Introduction

Image
Baladea is a fitness and wellness system created by Holly Perkins who is a celebrity trainer.  The system comes with a 36 page lifestyle guide, a 97 page nutrition guide, a progress schedule that features three rotations, and a DVD booklet that includes 8 DVDs.    Each of the guides are filled with colorful pictures and are of very good quality. One DVD serves as a introduction to the system and the other DVDs contains the seven workouts that make up the Baladea System. The introduction DVD is ten minutes long and is called "Hello". Each of of the other DVDs (I will review in later blog post) comes with the option to "play" or "play without music" Each of the workouts also contain a workout countdown timer and a segment timer.  Sometimes the segment timer is counting down the time and sometimes it is counting down reps. The workouts also have subtitles that briefly appear to tell you what you are doing. Along with Holly, there are three other cast...

10 Minute Solution Tone Trouble Zones - Thoughts

Image
10 Minute Solution Tone Trouble Zones features Amy Bento as the instructor. It is a band workout and the the band does come with the DVD or at least mine did. The five 10 Minute workouts are: Arm & Shoulder Sculpt Butt & Thigh Blaster Total Body Tone Zone Sleek & Sexy Abs 10 Minute Stretch Arms and Shoulder Sculpt worked the entire upper body, although I felt it was light on the chest work.  The workout started with rear chest flys working the back.  Amy continue working the back with the bent over row. There is some double arm work as well as single arm work.  Biceps is the next muscle group work; bicep curl and isolated curl in what Amy calls the spider position. Some single arm shoulder work is next followed by a triceps kickback. The last exercise is a triceps push up.  Butt & Thigh Blaster features the following exercises - skater squats, outer thigh & rear glute lift, pendulum kicks, donkey kicks, seated outer thigh pulls, ly...

Cathe Travel Fit - Thoughts

Image
Cathe's Travel Fit is approximately 50 minutes in length and it is a total body workout that uses a stretch band to get the job done. The workouts contains cardio burst in between the various resistance sets. I put this workout in my rotation because I knew I would be traveling and staying at a hotel. The workout does not require a lot of space so it work well in the hotel room. Most of the cardio is done in place and the only thing of concern there is some of the moves you are hopping or doing little jumps - so the people beneath you may not appreciate you depending on how much noise you make. I quite enjoyed the resistance sections (more so than I did the cardio burst). Most of the resistance exercises are isolation exercises. There are only a couple of times where I would say Cathe does a compound type move. Also, for the resistance sections, Cathe mostly uses a pattern of high reps to get the job done. There are a lot of 7 in 1, 15 in 1, and 3 in 1 pulses; and you do s...

Cathe Stretch Max - Thoughts

Image
Cathe's Stretch Max is a DVD that contains three separate total body stretch workouts. The three workouts are : No equipment basic stretching - approximately 22 minutes On the ball stretching (Stability Ball) - approximately 19 minutes Band-Based Stretching (Resistance Band) - approximately 18 minutes Each segment also uses a floor mat. Cathe and crew are barefoot. The music is very mellow in each of the segments. It has a relaxing quiet tone to it. Nothing is rushed in any of the workouts. Most stretches are held for 15 to 20 seconds and the stretches are static. There is not any dynamic or ballistic stretching in this workout. Also there is no warm up to the stretches. Cathe starts the workout and you start stretching. On the back of the DVD cover, it does state that "You should be completely warmed up before participating in the segments." For me this is fine as anytime I do these Stretch workouts I am tacking them on to the end of a run. All three workouts g...

Stephanie Huckabee PowerFit Harmony Core Pure Power - Review

Image
Core - Pure Power , I think is the sixth workout in the PowerFit Harmony series. It is a 20 minute workout. It uses a resistance band and a mat throughout the workout. Stephanie works the core in a variety of position to include standing, kneeling, and lying down. This was a very easy workout. The best part of the workout was using the resistance band to stretch the muscle during the stretching exercises. I was hoping for a little bit more intensity in the core exercises. The balance exercises I would classify as slightly challenging as I was wobbling on a couple of those exercises. All in all, I was not impressed. I am giving it 2 1/2 stars. 2 stars for Core and 3 for Stretch. Stephanie as almost always gets high marks. Her cuing is impeccable.

Cathe TravelFit - Review

Image
TravelFit is approximately 51 minutes long and the only piece of equipment it uses is a resistance band. Cathe promotes this workout as one that you can take with you and do while on travel. My only thought about that was some of the cardio burst moves require jumping and the majority of hotel rooms I have been have paper thin walls and you can always hear not only the people next to you but also those above you. There is not a lot of jumping and by the time that you hotel neighbor would get truly annoyed the workout will be over. I like this workout. It is not a super intense workout but it is significantly challenging that you work up a sweat. Also you can always use a band with more intensity if you want the workout to be harder. Cathe hits all the major muscle groups with this workouts. With a majority of the exercises, you can substitute dumbbells in place of the band if you really want to. Cathe used lifting gloves while performing the exercises. I didn't and didn'...
