Michael Olajide Jr Aero Power Round 1 - Review

Image
AeroPower Round 1 is described as a Women's Upper Body Workout.  It is lead by Michael Olijade Jr of AeroSpaceNY and the Aerobox System.  Aero Power clocks in at around 45 minutes and it is made up of rounds. As you complete a round, a 10 second countdown appears on the screens and counts down the last remaining seconds. The workout then fades out and a graphic reappears introducing the next round - telling you what you are going to do and what equipment that you need for that round. Before the next segment starts, another countdown (this time 3 seconds) appears to cue you to start performing. The workout alternates jump rope segments with sculpt segments. Throughout the segments Michael alters the tempo by slowing the move down and speeding the move up.  All the sculpt segments use light weights except for the triceps dip. Expect lots of reps. The segments require a lot of endurance.  I was definitely feeling the work in my shoulders and I was using one pou...

Michael Olijade's Aerobox Burn & Express Workouts - Thoughts

Image
Aerobox Burn and Aer o box Express. These two workouts are definitely the best in the bunch. Aerobox Express is approximately 21 & 1/2 minutes in length. And it is a straight up boxing workout.  Michael takes you through a series of punches.  You learn the punch combination in demo mode, you practice in exercise mode, and you take it up a notch in fight mode. This is a layered workout where Michael adds combos as you move along.  I believe there is a total of 6 combinations.  So by the end of the workout you are doing them all super fast in fight mode which I found extremely challenging.  I was definitely flailing the arms in some spots.  Definitely my favorite of the bunch. The only thing I didn't like about it is you only do the workout on one side of the body.  I guess you can switch it then next time you do the workout but you will really  have to know the workout and how the combos flow especially when you move up to fight speed. ...

Michael Olijade's Aerobox Pro - Thoughts

Image
Aerobox  Pro is about 46 minutes in length and it is a circuit workout. After the warm up, Michael takes you through 5 rounds in which you do: Upper Body Cardio Lower Body Sculpt Upper Body Sculpt Jump Rope Upper Body Cardio consist of various boxing combinations.   Michael takes you through the various speeds, Demo, Exercise and Fight. I will say Fight speed is quite fast. Upper Body Sculpt consist of doing various upper body moves such as shoulder press, triceps dips and pec crossovers.  You do have light hand weights and Michael takes you all the way up to Fight Speed in parts of this section as well.  I didn't like the Upper Body Sculpt sections.  This section seemed chaotic and the sculpting exercises chosen felt awkward at fight speed. Lower Body Sculpt section consist mostly of squats and lunges, with some plyo and isometric moves thrown in. You do get plenty of breaks.  Michael calls it "Walking it Down".  You do this either ...

Michael Olijade's Aerobox Basics + Drills

Image
Aerobox Basics & Drills is about 42  minutes of length.  It is lead by Michael and there is a modifier. The DVD has four chapters that you can choose from allowing you to select a workout option. Each workout option has a warm up and cool down. Several of the chapters use the same footage. The chapters are : Box & Sculpt Jump & Sculpt Box & Jump Box, Sculpt, & Jump This is the DVD where Michael introduces you to Demo Speed, Exercise Speed, and Fight Speed in all of the disciplines particularly boxing and jumping.  In the box section (about 12 minutes) you have the option of using very light handweights and in the jump section (about 14 minutes), you have the option of using a jump rope. The sculpt sections (about 9 minutes)  starts off by working the core, then moves on to upper body (push ups) and then lower body (squats).  The majority of the sculpt section is core work. The set looked a bit dark.  The music was okay This...

Aerospace Savage - Thoughts

Image
Savage is a workout featuring Michael Olijade Jr. It clocks in at about 55 minutes. The workout consist of boxing drills, jump rope drills and squat drills. Each round features these three disciplines and there are four rounds. The warm up is about 3 minutes and as warm ups go, I didn't care for it. Michael does tell you if you are not warmed up enough to do more. The Savage workout does not have a cool down. There is a second workout on this disc called Serene (reviewed July 11, 2010) that you can do for your cool down if you like but it is a 30 minute workout. The set is a boxing ring that has a chair in corner, a water bottle on the floor and it's dark. At one point, in one of the rounds or at the end of the round, Michael tells you to keep moving but he goes and sits in the chair that is in the corner. I thought that comical. The music, I think is pretty good. The workout is choreograph pretty precisely with the music. When Michael does the boxing speed drills, the...

Kathy Smith Aerobox Workout - Thoughts

Image
Kathy Smith Aerobox Workout features Michael Olajide Jr and is approximately 50 minutes long. The workout is really led by Michael, with Kathy offering a tip here and there. This workout originally came out in 1999 on VHS. I have the workout on DVD and the DVD is chaptered very nicely. The DVD Menu is as follows : Kathy's Intro Warm Up (7 mins) Stationary Boxing (10 mins) Stick and Move 1 (5 mins) Jump Rope 1 & Stick and Move 2 (6 mins) Jump Rope 2 & Stick and Move 3 (6 mins) Jump Rope 3 (4 mins) Aerobic Cool Down (6 mins) Stretches (4 mins) Kathy's Intro is very good. She and Michael spend some time going over the moves and talking about why you take a certain stance as well as they go over the punches. I found Michael's instructions very informative with some great tips. Out of the Boxing sections, the boxing in the Aerobic Cool Down section is my favorite. The Stationary Boxing section is good also but at times I thought the punches were super fast. Kathy do...

The FIRM Slim Without the Gym - Thoughts

Image
Slim Without the Gym is one of those workouts that I never get or got around to doing because it is hard for me to find a spot for it in my rotations. The FIRM promotes the workout as a travel workout - One that you can take anywhere with you because the equipment that you will need or use for the workout is very easy to pack. The workout is a "kit" workout. Meaning it comes with a type of equipment, tool, accessory etc. The items that come with this workout are a jump rope, a tube (cord with handles) and a loop (band). The workouts contains 4 individual workouts that you can combine for one long workout. If you click the "play all" button, the order of the workout is: The Jump rope/Plyo section, (jump rope) Upper Body Workout (cord and loop) Lower Body Workout (cord and loop) Core workout (cord and loop) Each section is about 11 minutes or so, and each sections has its own warm up and cool down. You can select each of these workouts individually ...
