Suzanne Bowen Prevention Flat Belly Barre! - Thoughts

Image
Flat Belly Barre! contains three 30-minute-ish barre inspired workouts. The workouts are led by Suzanne Bowen. Each workout features a beginner modifier and an advance modifier. Each workout also features subtitles that highlights the upcoming moves. The workouts are: Classic Barre Total Body Barre  Barre Blast Classic Barre uses isolation moves to work the body.  In this workout, Suzanne takes you through a series of reps - at least 16 per exercise - for the upper, lower, and core regions of the body.  A chair, a pair of light dumbbells and a mat are used in this workout.   Total Body Barre uses compound  or body weight moves to work the body. Most exercises combine both lower and upper body moves.  Suzanne uses a chair that serves as your barre, light dumbbells and a mat. Barre Blast is your cardio barre workout. Suzanne uses range of motion moves to get the heart rate up. She also adds double time/pulse work to most exercises to increase the burn. A ...

Preventoin Kick Start Your Metabolism - Thoughts

Image
Kickstart Your Metabolism is approximately a 65 minute workout featuring Chris Freytag as the lead. The workout is inspired by Kickboxing moves which show up throughout the workout. The sections in the workout are: Fat Blast Ab Attack Body Sculpt Bonus: Express Kickstart With the exception of Express Kickstart which clocks in at 8 minutes, the other segments clock in at around the 15 minute mark. The workout does include a warm up and cool down. Fat Blast is your cardio portion of the workout and it features a really simple routine featuring kickboxing moves (bob&weave, jabs, knee thrust, hooks, upper cuts). Very few of the moves are used in combination. Most of the moves are standalone moves that you do on one side and then the next.  I thought this segment very boring. Ab Attack  starts off with standing core.  The first portion continues the cardio with side to side jabs, hooks, squats, and strikes.  A long series of knee pulls and core rotation...

Prevention 400 Calorie Fix Workout - Thoughts

Image
Prevention's 400 Calorie Fix Workout is lead by Julie Marsland.  This is my first time working out with Julie and I thought she did a pretty good job leading the workout. The DVD menu gives you the following options: Introduction Play All (400 Calories - 52 minutes) Interval Workout (200 Calories - 21 minutes) Circuit Workout (200 Calories - 31 minutes) Audio Setup The interval workout alternated 3minute low impact segments with 2 minute high impact segments.  The exercise are the same for both the low and high interval segments. You are just adding impact, usually by hoping, running or jumping the move.  There is a bit of repetitiveness with the workout as what you do on one side your will do on the other and then you repeat it with impact in the high impact segment. The circuit workout alternated cardio with resistance training.  The cardio segments are between 4 and 5 minutes and are mostly low impact in nature. The resistance segments are about 5 min...

Prevention Fitness Systems Dance Workouts - Thoughts

Image
Prevention's Dance If Off workout features Jennifer Gilardi and it is approximately 52 minutes in length. It contains a warm up, 4 dance sections and a cool down. The dance sections are: Hip Hop, Latin, Jazz and Ballet. I didn't do the ballet section as it is mostly toning and I chose this workout to get extra cardio in. The choreography is basic. All the dances are very easy to follow and plus there's lots of breakdown - almost too much. Of the three dances I did do, my favorite is the Jazz dance. The Latin and Hip Hop dances are okay. Although, the music in the Hip Hop dance I have heard a million time before in other workouts. Prevention's Drop It With Dance features instructor Tabitha D'Umo. It is approximately 50 minutes in length. This workout has three ten minute dance routines plus a fourth routine that brings all the dances you learn together. So there is a warm up, 4 dance sections, and a cool down. The dances are: Jazz Funk, Hip-Hop, 90s Jam and...
