Heather Corndorf Moxie 1 and 2 - Thoughts

Image
Heather C Fitness presents Moxie 1 and Moxie 2 . Both are cardio strength workouts that require no equipment. The strength portion comes in the form of body weight exercises often done in the plank position but there are some squats, lunges, dips, crouching tigers, and handstands. Throughout the workouts, Heather gives you options showing you how to make the moves advance as  well as how to make the moves easier. The workouts include balance moves as well as  jumping, running, hopping and some kickbox moves too. Each workout clocks in at just over 21 minutes and probably could have been included on one DVD. What I didn't like is there is no DVD menu. The workout just start to play as soon as you put it in your DVD player.  The DVDs are also DVD-R. I like both workouts well enough but I didn't like one workout more that the other.  I felt they were both good 20 minute workouts. I love Heather's motto, "Love What Your Body Can Do Today". Heather's ...

Patrick Goudeau Turn Up and Slimdown - Thoughts

Image
Finally got around to doing this workout. I have had the workout schedule at least three times and life kept interrupting me. So Turn Up and Slim Down is a 70 minute workout led by Patrick Geoudeau.  Along with Patrick there are two other cast members.  The workout contains a warm up and cool down plus 6 ten minute workouts. Three of the workouts are cardio based and 3 are body weight exercise based. I found the body weight workouts super challenging.  In all the workouts Patrick is layering moves – piling it on I thought. In a couple of the Body weight segments I felt the final sequence of moves quite complex.  If you look at the spread sheet I created for the exercises you will see I list the exercise as “into” or “add” and that is because Patrick makes changes or modifications as he moves through. You might get 4 shots at the base exercise before he adds on. Patrick uses a mat in all the workouts.  The only other equipment you will need is a ...

Kristin Dowell Dressed Up Drills - Thoughts

Image
Dressed Up Drills is a long one.  I did the workout in two parts.  If you do the workout in its entirety in one session, the workout clocks in at over 80 minutes. So Dressed Up Drills is a series of drill moves combine to make a combination. If you do just the drills by themselves, Kristin calls them "just drills". When you add all the drills together, Kristin call this "dressed up drills".   Hence the title.  The DVD Title Menu has the following options: Introduction Start Workout Just Drills Workout & Pre-mixes Dressed Up Drills Workout & Pre-Mixes Mix & Match Credits Music on/off Just Drills Workout and Pre-Mixes, this section of the DVD features 11 different workout combinations and Dressed Up Drills Workout has 14 different workout combinations. So there are lots of options. The Mix & Match options breaks down as follows: Warm UP               ...

Patrick Goudeau Body Weight Blast - Thoughts

Image
Body Weight Blast is a Patrick Goudeau workout that clocks in a little bit over the hour mark. This is an interval style workouts that features some high energy throughout the workout. There are 8 interval segments that are 6 minutes each. Each 6 minute interval is broken down as follows: - 3 minutes of body weight exercises - 2 minutes of heavy weight (dumbbells) work - 1 minute of high intensity cardio. Within the 3, 2 and 1 minute sets,(in several of the segments) you are often working one side of the body and then repeating the moves on the other side of the body. Along with Patrick, there are four other cast members.  Patrick teaches this workout in his signature style.  He will start the exercise and then he often stops to coach and talk to the camera or the other cast members. Even though I know he does this, sometimes I would find it confusing because he would start the move and as he is stopping to coach, I am thinking he is going into a different varia...

Michelle Dozois Bodyfit 360 - Thoughts

Image
Body Fit 360 , from the clip that I saw,  I did not think I was going to like this workout very much.  This is a body-weight and barefoot workout.  Well, Michelle works out with bare feet as did the rest of the cast. The only equipment required is a mat and there is a modifier. This is a dance based, up and down workout.  By up, I mean standing and by down I mean floor work.  You are constantly working in both planes.  Along the way, you are doing a lot of balancing and stretching. While I like this workout more than I thought I would, I did think this would be a workout that I could get away from burpees and squat thrust, but no, they show up.  Even a variation on the plank mountain climber shows up.  Now with that said, I do think the way Michelle incorporated these moves into the workout, along with the musical selection made the moves take on a different persona.  Also, all the exercises are measured and precise. I did not think the...

Insanity Week 1 Update

Image
Insanity . Some features that all the workouts have in common are the double clock, the exercise sub-titles, and the tips sub-titles. A little bit about those features - the workouts showcase a double or dual clock. One clock counts down the total time of the workout. The second clock or timer counts down the exercise interval or rest period. Love this feature. Also the workout features sub-titles that show what exercise you are doing and while you are doing a particular exercise, tips that give you helpful hints appear throughout. I also love this feature. Insanity Week 1 . The workouts for this week were the Fit Test, Cardio Abs, and Plyometric Cardio Circuit. The Fit Test is around 25:40 in length. It has a warm up in which Shaun states the moves will be use in other Insanity workouts. The moves used in the warm up are : Jog, Jumping Jacks, Heisman, 123 Side to Side, Butt Kicks, High Knees and Mummy Kicks. After the warm up, you start the Fit Test. The Fit Test contains 8 mov...
