Focus Break Through - Review

The next volume in Tracie Long Fitness Focus Series is Volume 5 Break Through. Break Through is a 30 minute medicine ball cardio workout. The workout contains two chapter workouts "Have A Ball" and "Whittle Your Middle". Essentially, Have a Ball is the first 20 minutes of the workout and Whittle Your Middle is the last 10 minutes.
Within the 30 minute workout, I counted 8 distinct sections.
Section one: Med Ball Warm Up. I thought this section was rather fast or maybe I wasn't ready to work out but the tempo seemed quick to me. The warm up is about 4 1/2 minutes
Section two: cardio no med ball. Side lunges, squats, jacks, and a quick tempo define this section. About 3 minutes
Section three: Back to med ball. Overhead press, scissors, ball weaves and figure 8s. About 5 minutes
Section four: Cardio no med ball. Side lunges, Lateral jumps, single leg balance work and power. 3 1/2 minutes
Section five: Med ball. Sumo squats, releve' circles, stir the pot, ball crescents into lunge, 3 1/2 minutes or so.
Section six: Med ball Upper Body. rear delts, mid back, shoulder work, shot put. About 5 minutes
Section seven: Standing Core, 4 minutes
Section eight: Med ball abs and med ball push ups
I love the music is this workout. I think Tracie works really hard to give us music that is not heard in a whole lot of other workouts. The music is a bit funky, kind of quirky, up tempo, and groovy.
My two gripes about the workout:
1) The workout ends abruptly.
2) The camera angles. Some of the camera angles make it difficult to follow what Tracie is doing. There are too many and might I add unnecessary up close camera angles. I also think that the transition between the full view and up close camera shots are choppy - not smooth at all.
Other than that, love this workout.
4 stars.
