Jillian Michaels One Week Shred - Thoughts
The One Week Shred DVD contains two 30-minute plus workouts. One workout has a strength focus and the workout has a cardio focus. Jillian design the workouts to do one in the morning and one in the evening. Each workout contains a beginner modifier and an advanced modifier.
As in other Jillian Michaels workouts, she might start off showing you the exercise before she breaks off to offer instruction to the other cast members and us at home. Throughout the workout she is providing the motivational tips and forms points, and yes she is loud is certain parts.
Strength - AM Workout clocks in at around 39 minutes. It does include a warm up and a cool down. There are a total of four circuits. Each of the circuits feature weighted exercises, and body weight moves for the lower and upper body. Some moves are performed from the standing position and other moves are floor based. You perform each circuit twice.
Cardio - PM Workout clocks in at around 34 minutes. There is not really a warm up, but the workout does include a cool down. There are three circuits and you repeat each circuit twice. Jillian uses a variety of athletic, kickboxing, sports and drill based exercises as she takes you through each circuit
It looks like the setting is a warehouse where they have set up a stage and track lightening. In parts of the workout you can see the camera men. The music is mostly high energy background type music.
Both of the workouts are solid. You can work as hard as you want to. The cast used 3lbs weights in the weighted exercises but you could certainly increase the poundage in circuit spots.
Strength - AM Workout - 3 & 1/2 stars
Cardio - PM Workout - 3 & 1/2 stars
