Les Mills Pump Extreme - Thoughts

Image
Pump Extreme clocks in at about 59 minutes.  This  workout is almost exactly the same as Pump Revolution.  The only thing that I would say that is different is some of the sequencing within each track is different. I also like the soundtrack in Pump Extreme much better than I did in Pump Revolution.  There are a lot of reps.  I can quite see why you would go sometimes much lighter in weight with the Pump workouts than you would with other weight workouts.  There is a lot of endurance required.  I definitely felt the fatigue especially on the the longer tracks and where you are pretty much doing a single exercise.   But they do give you breaks within each track and so that makes it doable.  Amazingly I didn't get bored with doing all the reps. Solid workout. 3 & 3/4 stars

Les Mills Pump Revolution - Thoughts

Image
Les Mills Pump Revolution is approximately 57 minutes in length. It follows the same format as the other Pump workouts in that you are pretty much doing the same sequence of exercises. However in this workout, there is a Biceps track and a Triceps track added. One of the instructors stated that by the end of the workout you will have done 800 plus reps.  That is a lot.   The instructors change in and out, each one teaching a different section, and one instructor is the modifier.  I didn't like the sound track in this workout as much as the Pump and Shred, but still I got a good workout. 3 & 1/2 stars

Les Mils Pump and Shred - Thoughts

Image
Les Mills Pump and Shred clocks in at 45:43.  This workout is very similar to Pump and Burn,  except, this workout contains two extra sections. One for legs that feature a combination of the lunge and squat.  The other track is a shoulder track and that features a variety of shoulder exercises. There are seven instructors on stage with I think five different instructors alternating teaching the different tracks. There is a beginner modifier. During each segment you get a brief break towards the end of the track.  This allows you to make that final push to complete all the reps.  There are also built in breaks between tracks which allows you to change the weights and set up for the next exercise. Equipment used is a weighted bar and weighted plates.  A step is optional. I like the sound track in this one.  All the songs really seem to fit the vibe of the workout.  Fun and full of energy. There is a count down timer in the corner and each segment has its own clock down timer.

Less Mills Combat 60 Live Ultimate Warrior's Workout

Image
Combat 60 Live Ultimate Warrior's Workout is led by Rachel and Dan Cohen.  The workout is a live version of many of the moves that appear in the Combat 60 Extreme Cardio Fighter workout. There are seven instructors on stage. One person is modifying and there are a ton of people taking the class. The workout contains the following sections: Track 1 - Warm up - 3:49 Track 2 - Kicks - 4:54 Track 3 - Girls leads (Kickboxing)- 3:34 Track 4 - Boys leads (Boxing)- 5:15 Track 5 - Capoeria - 5:34 Track 6 - Boxing - 4:06 Track 7 - Kickboxing (Karate)- 5:18 Track 8 - Muay Thai - 5:34 Track 9 - Power Training - 5:23 Track 10 -Push ups and Abs - 2:42 Track 11 - Cool Down - 5:32 My favorite track is 8, but really I loved the workout from tracks 3 through 9. I thought track 5 was tough. It is lower body focus with a lot of lunges.  I also enjoyed the cool down stretch track. I felt the workout slow down for track 10 but I am sure that was by design.  Overall the workout is fun

Les Mills Pump and Burn - Thoughts

Image
Les Mills Pump and Burn clocks in at 33:21.  It features a variety of instructors that change in and out teaching a particular track.  There is one cast member that shows beginner modification moves. Pump and Burn is a sculpting weight workout that utilizes a principal they call the "Rep Effect".  Simply put, it means you are doing a ton of reps per track.  The workout is broken down into tracks.  Each track concentrates on a particular body parts or parts.  Mostly you are doing one exercise at various tempos for the length of the track. You are given a brief rest within the track. This usually occurs when you have just over a minute left.  However, between the tracks there is plenty of time to recover because the music stops and you are setting up for the next track.  The instructors also take this time to demonstrate and explain what is coming next.  This is also a time to stretch the muscles. The music is okay. I like some songs better than others.  The clas

Les Mills Combat 30 Live - Thoughts

Image
Combat 30 Live is led by Dan and Rachel.  This workout is just over 33 minutes in length, maybe a little less.  Dan spends quite a few seconds introducing the cast members on stage. The live workouts is filmed in Bristow, United Kingdom and there are tons of people taking the class. This workout features the subtitles and count down timers that the gym-style (or studio) workouts have and there is also a modifier. The workout is segmented by tracks.  They are: warm up upper body Round 1 lower body warm up (kicks) Round 2 boxing, kung fu, karate, kickboxing Round 3 boxing Round 4 kata and kicks Round 5 boxing There really is not a cool down.  Rachel suggest using the stretch DVD as your cool down. However this DVD does not come with the basic set. I like this workout.  It was a nice 30 minute cardio workout. There is a lot of starting and stopping as one music track ends and the next begins.  There is a music louder option and the music is pretty good. 3 & 3/4 stars
