The FIRM TransFIRM Your Body - Thoughts
TransFIRM Your Body Workout is approximately a 40 minute workout led by FIRM Master Instructor
Allie Del Rio. Along with Allie, there are four other cast members and one cast member does show beginner modification.
This workout is mostly a cardio workout with some light (4-limb) sculpting sets thrown it. It uses the FIRM's Fanny Lifter (also known as the TransFIRMer also known as The Body Trainer) in all segments.
The Breakdown:
Allie gets you warm by introducing a mini combo routine using the 6 inch box. You do this mini combination leading right and then you repeat the whole thing leading left.
The next segment is all leg press. Beginners use the 8 inch portion of the box, while all others used the box at its full height (14 inches).
The next segment is a step routine done using either the 6 inch or 8 inch portions of the box.
This is followed by a 4 limb (using light weights) segment and you keep the same box height as the previous segment. Some of the exercises that appear in this segment are squats with overhead press, leg abduction with triceps kickbacks, and lunges with rhomboid pinches.
There is another step cardio segments and this is followed by another 4-limb sculpting segment. In this 4-limb sculpting segment some of the exercises are alternating lunges with clean and press, side lunges with lat wrap around. and there is also a bit of kickboxing.
The next segment uses both portions of the Fanny Lifter but they are separated. Allie has you place both portions of the Fanny Lifter next to each other with about 2 feet into the two boxes. You then work laterally across both boxes doing squat presses and lunges off the boxes. I thought this was unique and enjoyed this segment.
Tall box climbs come next. This is followed by standing ab and plank core work. The workout ends with seated stretch on the Fanny Lifter.
Prior to this workout, I had not worked out for almost two weeks because I was sick. So instead of picking up with my rotation I decided to do this thinking that it would be easy. I have to say I found that I was out of breath quite a bit and several of the segments I found challenging.
I really like this workout. While the set is nothing to speak highly about, I thought the soundtrack was great and fit the workout very well. In fact, while doing the workout, I wonder why The FIRM had not release this workout sooner. I believe the actual workout was filmed back in 2007.
