Amy Bento Abs & Stretch - Thoughts

Image
Abs & Stretch is part of the first group of workouts that Amy Bento put out.   It consist of two ab workouts and 2 stretch workouts.  Stretch Section 1 is around 11 minutes in length. The other three segments are around 15 minutes each. Abs section 1 is a high rep workout and features standing and seated abs work.  Ab section 1 has a short warm up  Ab section 2 focuses on planks and working your abs using the stability ball. If you are doing abs 2 as its on workout, there is not a warm up for it.  Both workouts use dumbbells. Both stretch workouts use a resistance band and a mat.  Stretch section 2 is a standing stretch workout and Stretch section 2 is a floor based workout.  The DVD menu: Introduction Play Program Chapters    Back to Main Menu    Abs Section 1    Abs Section 2    Stretch Section 1    Stretch Section 2 Credits These workouts were okay.  You can play ...

10 Minute Solution Hot Body Bott Camp - Review

Image
10 Minute Solution Hot Body Boot Camp , well as this is "Boot Camp" of course you expect to have burpees and mountain climbers, and you do, but there is not a whole lot of them.  These moves appear in the first workout and mountain climbers appear in Rock Bottom Sculpt. The five 10 Minute workouts are: Hot Body Cardio Calorie Blasting Drills Ab Assault Rock Bottom Sculpt Better Body Stretch Hot Body Cardio is a very intense 10 minutes. Even in the transition, Amy the instructor, has you jogging as oppose to marching.  This is the workout that contains the burpees or squat thrust and the mountain climbers.  This section also include tire runs, cross jacks, squat jumps, and one legged jumps.  Amy packs in a lot in 10 minutes.  You really do not get a break. Calorie Blasting Drills . This workout uses a set of dumbbells and each drill contains, cardio, coordination work and strength training.  I enjoyed this workout up until the last drill which w...

10 Minute Solution Sculpt, Tone & Reshape - Review

Image
Sculpt, Tone, & Reshape with the Figure 8 .  Long name. This workout comes with two figure 8 tubing.  One is yellow in color and the other is red. I guess they are suppose to be different resistances. I really couldn't tell.  The Figure 8 Tubing is used in all the workouts. So the five workouts in this 10 Minute Solutions DVD are: Sexy, Sculpted Lower Body Upper Body Tone & Chisel Fat Blasting Sculpt Jiggle Free Buns & Thighs Flat and Firm Abs Fast So there are two lower body workouts. The first one Sexy, Sculpted, Lower Body works the lower body in the standing position and Jiggle Free Buns & Thighs mostly works the lower body in the floor positions. Upper Body Tone & Chisel contains both standing and floor work. You do quite a bit of single arm work.  All five upper body muscle groups are worked.  The biceps and triceps are worked simultaneously. Flat & FIRM Abs Fast is another workout that contains both floor and standin...

10 Minute Solution Tone Trouble Zones - Thoughts

Image
10 Minute Solution Tone Trouble Zones features Amy Bento as the instructor. It is a band workout and the the band does come with the DVD or at least mine did. The five 10 Minute workouts are: Arm & Shoulder Sculpt Butt & Thigh Blaster Total Body Tone Zone Sleek & Sexy Abs 10 Minute Stretch Arms and Shoulder Sculpt worked the entire upper body, although I felt it was light on the chest work.  The workout started with rear chest flys working the back.  Amy continue working the back with the bent over row. There is some double arm work as well as single arm work.  Biceps is the next muscle group work; bicep curl and isolated curl in what Amy calls the spider position. Some single arm shoulder work is next followed by a triceps kickback. The last exercise is a triceps push up.  Butt & Thigh Blaster features the following exercises - skater squats, outer thigh & rear glute lift, pendulum kicks, donkey kicks, seated outer thigh pulls, ly...

Urban Rebounding Kick Box Metabolic Intervals - Review

Image
Kick Box Metabolic Intervals is an urban rebounding workout and it is part of the URX-MT series of workouts. It stars Amy Bento and is about 53 minutes in length. Along with Amy, there are four other cast members, five if you count that camera man that appears in several shots throughout. The workout starts with a 6 minute workout and then you go into kickboxing intervals hi/lo combos, where you alternate kickbox combos with high intensity kickbox inspired drills. Sand weights are used in both the combos and the drills. The warm up and the combo/drills section total about 35 minutes. Then comes an abdominal section which is about 5 minutes and the workouts ends with about a 12 minutes stretch. I was disappointed that the Kickbox combo/drill section was so short. Otherwise I like this workout. Just like the other workout, Amy yells way too much and she curses. She also does quite a bit of walking around in this one as well. 3 & 1/4 stars

Urban Rebounding Boot Camp Metabolic Intervals - Review

Image
Boot Camp Metabolic Intervals is an rebounder workout from the Urban Rebounding System. This workout is part of the Urban Rebounding Extreme Metabolic Training and stars Amy Bento as the lead. The workout is just over 50 minutes in length. The use of a rebounder indicates that the workout is suppose to be low impact and joint friendly. However there is so much jumping off of the rebounder onto the floor that you are not really getting the low impact benefit. The workout is interval based. It is divided into cycles. Within each cycle, you are doing 4 exercises. You are doing each exercises for two minutes or if warranted one minute per side. Amy gives you about 30 seconds of recovery in between the exercises. There seems to be more exercises done from the floor than from the rebounder. In a few exercises the rebounder is used as a prop (similar to using a step). The workout does contain a warm up, ab section (functional abs), and cool down. There is a lot of yelling and some c...

Amy Bento KB2 - Thoughts

Image
A 65 minute workout, KB2 combines Kickboxing combos with Kettlebell Intervals. There are four combos and four intervals. These are surrounded by a warm up at the beginning and a cool down and stretch at the end. Kickboxing combo sections : The combos are more drill base than routine base.. Certainly, they are less intricate that many of Amy's other Kickboxing workout. I like the combos. Amy does include a couple of new moves that haven't been in her other workouts. In terms of content within each combo, the warm up and combo 1 probably has the most content. The others seem short on content but made up for it in repetition. There is lots of repetition. Also, the combos are super easy to follow. The Kettlebell Sections : In some intervals, Amy uses two kettlebells and in some intervals, she uses only one. Interval 1: High Pull, Snatch, Middle Get up (1 kettlebell) Interval 2: Dual Swings, Dual Cleans, Front Loaded Squats (2 kettlebells) Interval 3: Push ups, Renegade Row...

Amy Bento Cardio Pump Hi/Lo - Thoughts

Image
Cardio Pump Hi/Lo is another workout I have had for awhile and I that I just got around to doing. It features classic Amy Bento Hi/Lo followed by classic Amy Bento sculpting. . The Hi/Lo portion is sadly too short - only about 13 or 14 minutes or so. It is athletic in nature and I didn't find the steps difficult to pick up at all. I want to say there are two combinations but I really felt there was one combination and then some add-on moves to that. . The sculpting portion is about 20 minutes and it features lots of equipment - club step, tubing, weights, stability ball and mat. The sculpting portion has some unique and traditional exercises. . The workout flew by. Amy is full of energy and the music is motivating. There is a lot of counting down the reps - something that I don't always like. So at times I found this annoying but other than that I love the workout especially the Hi/Lo portion. . The whole workout clocks in around 46 minutes. 4 stars

Amy Bento Cardio Pump Step - Thoughts

Image
Cardio Pump Step is another workout that I have had for awhile and I am just now getting around to doing it. It is a 49 minute workout that features two step combos and a sculpting weight segment. The step portion includes a warm up and a cool down and the step combinations are classic Amy Bento - fun, athletic and full of energy. Amy does not have a break down for the combinations but I found them easy to pick. The step portion is about 22 minutes long. The second part of the workout is the sculpting section. This section uses an 8 inch step height, a weighted barbell, and dumbbells to sculpt the body. Amy works each muscle group except shoulders. For the legs, Amy does leg press, lunges, and dead lifts. Push ups work the chest. Barbell rows work the back. Curls, hammer curls and cross body curls work the biceps. Dips and french press work the triceps. There is plank work that works the core. I like this workout - especially the step section, but the sculpting section is pre...

Amy Bento A-Team Boot Camp - Thoughts

Image
A-Team Boot Camp is a 60 minute plus circuit style workout. It consist of 6 circuits or drills as Amy calls them. Each drill is broken down into 4 parts that include 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of lower body, 1 minute of upper body and 1 minute of core. The 2 minutes of cardio in some of the drills is very very long. That is because in some of the drills, you are doing the same move for the whole two minute. Over kill. I actually got bored a couple of times wondering when this was going to be over. A couple of the cardio drills do have more variety and thus were more fun to do. The rest of the workout uses a lot of equipment. Weights (dumbbells and barbell), stability ball, tubing and the step bench are all used to added intensity to the lower body, upper body and core exercises. During the lower body sets, where you work each leg separately, the minute is further broken down to doing 30 seconds on each leg. Amy does give you a lot of rest between each drill and a couple of ...

Amy Bento Hi Lo Xtreme - Thoughts

Image
I am pretty sure I have reviewed Hi Lo Xtreme and I will check in a minute or so to see if that is true. I think Hi Lo Xtreme might have been my second attempt at Amy Bento (2nd behind ASC2). I remember chucking these workouts to the side because they were hard to follow. I wasn't used to the sort of cuing that Amy did. But I brought them back out; and I am glad I did because I really do love Amy style cardio - be it Kickboxing, Hi Lo or Step. With that said, this would not be the workout I would start out with if I was learning Amy. Now the moves themselves aren't particularly complex and once you know the combos (there are 4) it flows nicely. The problem is Amy isn't consistent in her cuing or rather the cuing is uneven. By that I means combos and intervals aren't the same on both sides. You do one side and then go to the other side and expect to do the same thing and no that is not the case. Also all the combos don't finish the same way; for instance...

Amy Bento Advance Step Challenge - Thoughts

Image
I can't believe this is the first time I have done Advanced Step Challenge , the first one. I have had this workout for quite some time and I finally got around to doing the workout this morning. I don't know the reason why I hadn't done it until now, maybe I thought it wouldn't be as fun as two and three and now four, but it was a blast. Okay the workout. A short workout for Amy - about 42 minutes but even so the workout contain a warm up, 4 step combinations and a cool down. It also contain a Power Up section but I didn't do that. The combos were fun and athletic and the workout featured traditional Amy cuing. By that I mean she throws it at you. The simpler steps are broken down and repeated more - kind of like you are using them to get your second wind - and then it is full blast into a series a moves. She does take you through each set of moves at least three times but there is no break down for them. I think Amy even states she is not breaking down the ...

Amy Bento Hi Lo Dynamics - More Thoughts

Image
Hi Lo Dynamics - what else can I say? Well, this morning was my second time doing the workout and I like this workout a lot but I do have caveats. Last time I mentioned the camera angles - I think the problem is the editing and the way the camera cuts to that particular camera angle. It is not smooth and its jarring. It gives you the feeling that you made a mistake or missed a step when you haven't. When I knew the crappy camera angles were coming up, I stopped looking at the television and guess what - "It stopped annoying me". The music ????????? Not bad, Not great. Kind of subdued in spots, Kind of rockin in others. Memorable ????? It did fit the workout and kept the workout moving at a nice pace. So I guess it did its job. Okay - other things I notice this time around that I think escape me last time -in the main part of the workout Amy doesn't combine the first two combos (1 &2) and the last two combos (3+4) . And I thought I remembered doing t...
