Marc Santa Maria Rhythmica - Thoughts

Image
Rhythmica features Marc Santa Maria as your trainer.  Marc takes you through three 20 minutes dances. The dance are: Hip Hop Fat Burn Latin Dance Mix Get Fit House Party Each dance contains two mini dance routines. There are four moves to each dance.  Marc teaches a move at half pace. You get two run thrus before he has you perform the step at tempo.  (However, I didn't think tempo was really all that fast). After performing the move at tempo, you add on the next move. You repeat this pattern until you have all four moves of the mini combo. Marc then runs through all four moves from beginning to end four times before moving on the either the next mini combo or the next dance. All the dances follow this pattern.  All of the dances also had a based move that you would go back to as you were learning what was coming next. Along with Marc, there are two other cast members. This workout was okay.  I liked most of the moves that were in each of the dances...

Ilyse Baker Dancinerate 2 - Thoughts

Image
Ilyse Baker's Dancinerate Sazzy Jazz and Hip Hop Fusion is Ilyse's second Dancinerate workout.  This workout has two dances, one is jazz base and on is hop hop base.  Each has its own warm up and cool down and both routines clock in at around 26 minutes. Ilyse follows a definite pattern in teaching the routines. She introduces the move with slow counts that she runs through three times.  Ilyse then has you rehearse the move at tempo for three times through.  The move is added to the routine and you take it from the top three times. The whole routine is around eight 8 counts. So its not a long routine.  At the end of the workout, Ilyse takes you through the routine for several runs giving you the opportunity for more calorie burn. The music changes as the routine moves along. So you are performing the same moves to different music and different parts of the music. I like this workout. I think I like this slightly better than the first workout. My favor...

Dance Off the Inches Cardio Hip Hop Party - Review

Image
Cardio Hip Hop Party is approximately 42 minutes in length and features Jennifer Gilardi as the lead. The three dances in this workout are: Old School Hip Hop House Video Jam. I really love the Old School and Hip Hop House dances and give both of them high marks.  The Video Jam was just okay and overall I thought the music could have been better.  I did like the music in Hip Hop House. Old school features dance moves such as the cabbage patch, old school shuffle and roger rabbit.  Hip Hop House features steps like the glide, the sweep, and the slide.  In the Video Jam workout, Jennifer slowed down the tempo. The steps in this dance seemed really similar to each other. This workout features a 26 minute Step Guide but I was so annoyed because unlike last week's Hip Hop Jam, they didn't chapter the steps.  So you couldn't just jump through to the move you wanted to review.  Old School - 5 stars Hip Hop House - 4 & 1/2 stars Video Jam ...

Dance Off The Inches Hip Hop Jam - Thoughts

Image
Dance Off The Inches Hip Hop Jam is lead by Jennifer Gilardi.  The workout is approximately 43 minutes in length; and like other DOTI workouts it features a step guide which is about 22 minutes in length. What is great about this Step Guide is that it is chaptered.  Yea!!! So you can quickly jump to the move you want to review. There are 10 steps that Jennifer breaks down. There are three dances that Jennifer teaches in a layered pattern.  On average, Jen gives you 4 passes of each move that is taught before moving on.  Then she combines the moves and has you take it from the top until the whole dance combination is learned. The DVD offers the following options: Play - Plays all Chapters - lets you select individual dances Step Guide - Breakdown Booty Blaster Workout - Bonus Workout The chapters option further breaks down into: Warm up Cali Pop Funk Groove Street Style Cool Down I really like the Warm up.  Cali Pop was just okay. I thou...

10 Minute Solution Hip Hop Dance Mix - Review

Image
10 Minute Solution Hip Hop Dance Mix features Kristin Jacobs as the lead. Kristin takes you through 5 Hip Hop inspired 10 minute workouts. You can play all 5 sections, select only one section or created a personalized workout. You can select up to six solutions when you create a personalized workout. So if you wanted, you could double up on a segment. The dances are: Hip Hop Basics Fat Burning Funk Edgy Grooves Body Re-Mix Cardio Street Heat. I found Kristin's instruction to be clear and concise. There is just enough repetition to ensure you get the move but not so much you get bored. The steps themselves start out basic and Kristin adds rhythm as you repeat the moves. All the music tracks (although instrumental) had a real hip hop flavor to them. So they fit the dances and vibe very well. I really like this work and I like all five dances. Usually there is at least one dance or segment in the bunch that I wouldn't particularly care for but not so with this workout. 4 ...

Dance Off the Inches Hip Hop Body Blast - Thoughts

Image
Hip Hop Body Blast is Jennifer Gilardi's third hip hop dance workout for Dance Off the Inches. This workout is about 45 minutes in length and like all Dance Off the Inches workouts or the ones I have, this workout has a Step Guide to teach you the moves. I never or rarely used the Step Guide. I will do the workout first and if I have trouble picking up a step, I will go to the step guide. I didn't have any trouble picking up the steps in this workouts. The steps are basic and Jen repeats them enough so by the time we were moving on, I had picked up the move. The DVD is chaptered. The sections of the workout are: Warm Up Dance 1: In The Club Dance 2: Groovin Dance 3: Kick It Up Cool Down Out of the three Jennifer Gilardi DOTI workouts, this one is my favorite. With the exception of the first tune in Dance 1, the music was really good and worked well with the choreography. I wasn't feeling the Hip Hop in that first tune of Dance 1. There are two cast members in the wor...

Dance Off The Inches Cardio Hip Hop - Thoughts

Image
Clocking in at 43 minutes is Dance Off the Inches Cardio Hip Hop . This workout features Jennifer Gilardi. Like most if not all Dance Off the Inches workouts this DVD contains a Step Guide that breaks down the most complicated moves. The Step Guide is about 18 minute long. I didn't use the Step Guide, but on a couple of the moves I thought I should have. The Step Guide is not chaptered and I didn't feel like searching for the one or two moves that I wanted to watch a breakdown for. So the workout consist of a warm up, three dances, and a cool down. The dances are: Hit Em Hard, Work It Out, and Smooth It Out. Hit Em Hard and Work It out really work the legs. Smooth It Out works the core and ab region. My favorite dances are Hit Em Hard and Smooth It out. Although I like the music better in Work It Out , then Hit Em Hard and last the music in Smooth It Out. All the moves are doable. Jennifer repeats the moves several times so after awhile you are able to pick them up without a pr...

Quickfix Cardio Hip Hop - Thoughts

Image
Quickfix Cardio Hip Hop is a 40 minute dance workout led by Juliane Arney. The workout is broken down into four 10 minute dance routines. The dances are: Routine 1 - Inner Dancer Routine 2 - Rhythm Routine 3 - Low & Funky Routine 4 - Hip Hop Groove Each of the dances are broken down into 8 counts and consist of two sections. You learn section one, run through it a few times. You learn section two, run through that a couple of times and then you put both parts together without a break. Juliane does a great job in breaking down all the moves. First she gives you a basic move (Julianne calls it a lifeline) that you can come back to should you get lost or just need a break. Second, she gives each move a name which after attempting Tracy Anderson dance cardio, I find to be very helpful. Lastly she does a great job in cuing the moves, although I will say she is overly peppy. Now while there are two ladies dancing behind her, there is no modifier. All of them are performing the same...
