Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Desserts - Thoughts

Image
Breyers Smooth and Dreamy Ice Cream Bars & Sandwiches According to Breyers, their "Bars and Sandwiches are so delicious and indulgent, you'll be amazed that they have less fat and calories than regular ice cream bars and sandwiches." Well I have tried several of them and I agree they are delicious. The flavors are: Triple Chocolate Chip Bars (130 calories and 6 fat grams) Chocolate Covered Strawberry Bars (120 Calories and 4.5 fat grams) Vanilla Fudge Brownie Sandwiches (160 calories and 4 fat grams) Chocolate Caramel Brownie Sandwiches (160 calories and 4 fat grams) Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sandwiches (160 calories and 4 fat grams). The only flavor I haven't tried is the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Bars. Of those that I have tried, my favorites are Triple Chocolate Chip Bars and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sandwiches. Both of these taste absolutely yummy. Most of the time I buy them at Target. They cost $2.99 and you get six in the box. If you like choc...

Weight Watchers At Work - The PointsPlus Program

Image
I started Weight Watchers at Work yesterday, but I am making today my official start day. And while I did my best to "ou t train a bad diet" I had to admit to myself that it (my diet) just was not working and that it was limiting any progress I was making with my workouts. One week I would do good and then one, maybe two weeks I would do bad - blah, blah, blah - etc, etc, etc. Now I am signed up for a 17 week program that meets on Wednesdays at work. The cost for 17 weeks is $186 and it comes with 19 weeks of "free" etools. I get 31 points a day. I get 49 additional points for the week. I get to earned up to 42 activity points a week. I can swap the activity points for food points. Don't know if I will do that or not. What I already like about the program is that all fruit has a zero pointsplus value. I love fruit. So that is good. Looking ahead, I do think it might become cumbersome if not time-consuming calculating the point values of recipes and restaurant f...

Lean Cuisine Spring Rolls - 3 Flavors

Image
Lean Cuisine has a new snack item. They are spring rolls and they are part of the Casual Cuisine line. There are three varieties and they are: Thai-Style Chicken Spring Roll Fajita-Style Chicken Spring Roll Garlic Chicken Spring Roll I saw them at my local Wal-Mart and picked up the two varieties (thai and garlic) they had right away. Instantly, I like them and think they are quite tasty. Earlier this week, I stopped by my local Target and found the third variety (fajita) and tried that. I didn't like that flavor as much. Each serving is 200 calories and 7 grams of fat. There are two servings per box and one serving equals three spring rolls. When I first tried them I used duck sauce with them but later found that I preferred to eat them without duck sauce. At Wal-Mart they were priced $1.98 a box and at Target $2.99 a box. Just like workouts or even more so, food is very subjective but for my taste buds I give the following rating: Thai-style - 4 1/2 stars Fajita-style...

Yoplait Frozen Smoothies - Review

Image
Yum!!!. Just add one cup of skim milk (or slightly more if you want it more smooth and less thick) to the contents of the bag, blend it up and serve. I just recently found the Yoplait Frozen Smoothies in my local grocery stores and decided to give them a try and I like them. There are currently four flavors: Triple Berry Strawberry Mango Pineapple Strawberry Banana Blueberry Pomegranate The Strawberry Mango Pineapple and the Blueberry Pomegranate are my favorites. There are two servings per bag and each serving is 110 calories if you use one cup of skim milk. I usually have two (the full bag) servings - replacing my oatmeal and toast breakfast. It pours nicely in a 16oz cup and that is great if you are "on the go". They can be pricey depending where you shop. At my local grocery stores, they are between $3.79 and $3.99 per bag. At Target, I think they were priced at $3.25 and this past weekend I found them at Wal-Mart for $2.50 a bag. When I first tried one, I thought it c...

Salad Blaster Bowl & Cup - Review

Image
In a quest to eat healthier, I have been trying to incorporate a salad into my diet 4 to 5 times a week. After experimenting as to when I was going to try to routinely do this, I came up with lunch as the best option. Right around the same time as I came up with this plan, I started a new job. The new job came with a community refrigerator. Actually my old job had a community refrigerator but only 6 people shared that. At my new job a whole floor. Any way, I would prepare my salad each day in one of those disposable Glad storage containers and I bought a whole bottle of the Zesty Italian Light salad dressing to go with it. I put the salad dressing in the refrigerator (along with everyone else who had done the same thing with their bottle of salad dressing and like most people I labeled it with my name and date). So the second maybe third day I went to go get my salad and the dressing and there was no dressing. I search the refrigerator, open bins and nothing. Someone had taken ...

Buena Vida Low Carb Whole Wheat Tortilla

Image
Buena Vida Low Carb Whole Wheat Tortillas When I am really following what I am eating, these whole wheat tortillas tend to find themselves a constant staple in my diet. They are great very making your own wraps. 1 tortilla contains: 70 Calories 4 Fat Grams 0 Saturated Fat 7 Carbs 3 Fiber 0 Sugar 4 Protein. I usually pair one tortilla with ham or turkey deli slices and light mayo. 3 stars.

Kraft 100 Calorie Cheese Bites

Image
I found a new 100 Calorie snack that I like. It's a new cheese item from Kraft called Cheese Bites . It comes in 4 different flavors but the the only two I have tried mostly because they are the only two flavors I can find are Cheddar and Cheddar and Monterey Jack . Each bag comes with 5 individual wrap cheese packs. Each pack has little squares (bites) of cheese. This is a nice 100 calorie snack to have around. Be warn that if you a doing Weight Watchers, the bites clock in at a whopping 3 points. I say whopping because the majority of my 100 calorie snacks are only 2 points. Nutrition Information is: 100 Calories, 8 Fat grams, 0 Fiber The other flavors are Three Cheese Blend and Mozzarella and Garlic & Herb . Kraft is giving out coupons for $1.00 off on their website. 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would have given it 5 stars if it was 2 WW points.

Emerald Trail Mix - Review

Image
Well, I decided to try something new. I picked up two boxes of Emerald Trail Mix, one Tropical Blend, the other Breakfast Blend from Wal-Mart. What caught my eye was the subtitle Breakfast Blend. I thought that if this was edible it would be a good breakfast substitute for me and it would be something I could take on the go. Well these were edible and other than the Styrofoam looking pieces overall they are not a bad item. Both the Tropical Blend and the Breakfast Blend are made up with a variety of fruit, nuts and granola chunks. My major issue with this product is that one bag is 2 servings. These bags are not that big and when spread out on a paper plate, the contents look puny. The Tropical Blend contains 130 calories and 7 grams of fat per serving. So if you eat the whole bag that is approximately 260 calories and 14 grams of fat. The Breakfast Blend contains 120 calories and 4.5 grams of fat per serving. The bags that I bought are a little less that 2 ounce bags. ...

Marie Callender Rigatoni Marinara Classico - Review

Image
Marie Callender Rigatoni Marinara Classico. This is not a "diet" food. It comes in at a whopping 10 points. What I like about though is that it is a single serving. What I didn't like about it is that for a non-"diet" food it could have tasted better. It didn't taste bad, I was just wishing for a richer flavor. The dish contain sausage slices and meatballs. The pasta was penne. All in all - edible but not worth 10 points. 3 stars

Fajita Chicken - Review

Image
Edible but not a favorite. Weight Watchers Smart Ones Artisan Creations Stone-Fired Crust Pizza Fajita Chicken (wow! - the name itself is a mouth full) is another item that was a part of my menu this week. This was the first time that I had this meal and it was okay. I could taste that something was missing. I think it is the sauce. There was something lacking there. What I will say is that it was full of ingredients. Lots of bite size chicken, cheese and various vegetables. Sometimes with the "diet foods", manufacturers are sparse on the ingredients especially if the ingredient includes meat. So I was please with how much was included. The meal is a 7 point meal. So it takes up valuable points if your are following WW points system. I don't know if it is worth it. If it tasted better to me, it would be worth it. However, let me say, I am an extremely picky eater. So I tend not to like most things. 3 stars

Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla - Review

Image
Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla is one of my favorite Frozen Entree Meals. I honestly can't tell the difference in taste from this and something I would get from a restaurant. The box come with 2 half quesadillas and each one is 4 points each. I usually add low fat sour cream and fat free salsa - making them 5 points each - to complete the meal. Delicious and filling. This is a 5 star item for me.

Weight Watcher Mini Snacks - Review

Image
Weight Watcher has several 1 point mini bars that they sell in their center. Two of my favorites (and really the only ones I buy) are Cookies & Cream Mini Bar and Peanut Butter Bliss Mini Bar. Cookies & Cream - 70 Calories, 2.5 fat grams, 45 mg of sodium, 14 Carb grams, 4 fiber grams, 4 sugar grams, and 1 protein. I will say that this bar had to grow on me. I was not overwhelmed by it when I first tried it, but now it is one of my favorite. As the name implies is it both crunchy and creamy. Peanut Butter Bliss - 70 Calories, 2 fat grams, 70 mg of sodium, 13 Carb grams, 3 fiber grams, 6 sugar grams, and 1 protein. If you like peanut butter, I would encourage you to try this because this is one delicious snack. You have a crispy bar surrounded by creamy peanut butter. If you follow Weight Watchers, both of these bars are 1 point each.

Blue Diamond Almonds - Review

Image
I found out about this item when I attended a Weight Watcher meetings and as I like almonds, I decided to give them a try. My life is all about convenience so I love the fact that these were already pre-packaged. The Blue Diamond Almonds Whole Natural 100 Calories snack have become one of my favorite snacks. If you follow Weight Watchers it is 2pts per bag. Nutrition wise you are looking at 100 Calories, 9 Total Fat grams, 0 Sodium, 3 total carbs (that includes 1 sugar and 2 Fiber) and 4 grams of protein. The drawback is one being able to find the item. I get the item from my Local Giant Grocery store and the other drawback is they are expensive. It cost $3.79 per box at Giant. Giant raise their prices on this item. When I first started buying them they were $3.49 per box. There are seven bags per box. If you like Almonds, I think these are excellent. If you are watching your Weight, these are a great snack alternative. If you don't like buying the big bag and counting out the corr...
