Jazzercise Dance HiiT - Thoughts

Image
Jazzercise Dance HiiT workout is lead by Shanna Misset Nelson. This workout has a rockin soundtrack with a lot of contemporary songs. The workout is called Dance HiiT, HiiT standing for High Interval Intensity Training. I did not think this was a "HiiT" workout in any shape or form.  This doesn't mean that I don't like the workout, I just think the title is misleading, but what's new. The DVD menu offers the following options: Dance HiiT Full Workout - Approximately 47 minutes in length Dance HiiT Pure Cardio - 30 minutes Dance HiiT Pure Strength - 19 minutes Dance HiiT Express -18 minutes What I like that Shanna does is she introduces each of the premixes as well as the main workout.  The Full Workout alternates cardio set with strength sets.  Some strength sets use the tubing.  One of the cast members uses weights to show that option. The Pure Strength and Express workouts do not have a warm up.  They both go right into using the tubing. The E...

Jazzercise Dancin' Abs - Review

Image
Dancin' Abs is co-lead by Shanna Missett Nelson and Young McCarthy.  It is a 60 minute athletic dance core workout. All of the ab work is done within the mini dance combos and it is all standing.  Expect a lot of oblique focus training.  Most of the ab work were oblique twist, oblique crunches or side bends. There is quite a bit of impact, not super crazy high impact - more that you are constantly up on your toes doing some type of bouncing or hopping move. There is also a lot of repetition within each mini combo.  You are doing a set of two sequences over and over again until the end of the track.  Not including the warm up and cool down, there are 12 tracks in the 60-Minute Workout.  Most of the tracks are roughly 3 to 4 minutes. Lots of stopping and starting.  At the end of each track, you come to a complete stop and do some type of dance pose hold. Towards the end of the workout, most of the tracks are focused on sculpting the abs but the...

Burlesque by Jazzercise - Thoughts

Image
Burlesque by Jazzercise is a 48 minute workout and it features Shanna Misset Nelson as the lead.  It has a real showgirl aspect and so of course the term "sexy" was used quite often during the workout. There is a warm up and a cool down.  In between those two, there are 8 dances.  Dance 7 focuses on the Abs. Dance 8 focuses on the lower body (squats, lunges, plies). Each dance is choreograph to its own song.  Speaking of song, the music is awesome. The music in this workout rivals some of my Pump It Up workouts.  All are current danceable tunes. They are lots of fun and have lots of energy. Shanna. I really enjoyed her.  This is my first time working out with her and I thought she was awesome. Great clear cuing. My only issue with the workout was the repetitiveness.  Each dance contain about 4, maybe 5 moves and you repeated those moves throughout the whole song.  So I was wishing for a little bit more variety because on the longer songs...
