Jessica Smith Cardio Abs - Thoughts

10 Pounds Down Cardio Abs clocks in at a whopping 85 minutes if you do the whole work.  I did the whole workout but not in one sitting.
There are three main workouts and one bonus workout on this DVD.  There is an option to Play All otherwise you have your choice of:
Cardio Abs (28 minutes)
Total Body Abs Transformer (28 minutes)
Concentrated Abs (28 minutes)
Tummy Torching Tabata (4 minutes).

I did Cardio Abs and Total Body Abs Transformer as an AM workout and in the evening I did Concentrated Abs and the Tabata workouts.

Cardio Abs is set to an upbeat tempo and it mixes different cardio moves in a combination format.  Most of the cardio moves are kickboxing inspired moves.  You run through each of the combinations twice before moving on. In most cases, Jessica will start with a base often low impact move and then she gradually adds intensity and different levels as you progress through a particular element.

The next workout is Total Body Abs Transformer. This workout uses a set of weights and a mat.  I created a worksheet for this workout.  Most of the exercises in this workout are compound multi-joint that in many cases works both  the upper and lower body at the same time.  Each set of moves gets two run-throughs before Jessica moves on. The workout moves pretty quickly and there is not a lot of rest between the exercises.
Concentrated Abs contain both standing and floor based ab work.  There are some balancing moves that challenge the core and there is plank work as well as some crunch variations.

Tabata was only 4 minutes.  20 seconds on for each exercise with 10 seconds rest.  Count on doing lots of jumping in this workout.  The Tabata moves in this workout are:
Butterfly Jumps.
Ski Mountain Climbers
Butt Kicks with Jumping Jack Arms.
Windmill Jumps
I liked all the moves in this super short workout expect for the Ski mountain climbers.

3 & 3/4 stars
